Wizz shows new colours

The fashion begun by JetBlue for bespoke liveries (BTN last week) has spread to Hungarian carrier Wizz Air, which has created a special colour scheme to highlight Budapest’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and a spot-the-plane competition to go with it.

The airline, in partnership with Budapest Airport and the Budapest bid committee, has decorated an Airbus A321 and an Airbus A320 from its Budapest fleet in new colours incorporating elements of the Budapest 2024 design.

The A321 joined the fleet on Thursday, while the A320 will start operating commercial flights from this Thursday, 1 December. The livery will last for the duration of the bid process, until 31 August next year.

To mark the unveiling, Wizz is asking fans to keep an eye out for the special aircraft, photograph the livery and post the picture on Instagram with the hashtag #WIZZBudapest2024 hashtag.

The two best photographs will each be awarded a €200 Wizz Air voucher and a special gift package.

In the UK, Wizz serves Luton, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool, Doncaster/Sheffield, Birmingham and Bristol.

CEO József Váradi said: “As an airline with its roots in Hungary, we are proud to contribute to building and further promoting the Budapest brand internationally.”
