NH Hotels on the move

Spain’s NH Hotel Group has followed the launch of its premium brand, NH Collection, in America with the opening of 5-star properties in the two most important cities in its home country, Gran Hotel Calderón in Barcelona and Hotel Suecia, Madrid. As is usual for the brand, both are in city-centre landmark buildings.

The America launch featured the 306-room NH Collection Mexico City Reforma, which offers the brand’s signature “Brilliant Basics” including special pillows, salon hair-dryers, 48in LED TVs, Nespresso coffee machines, safes and free wi-fi.

Guests at the ceremony included group co-chairmen Alfredo Fernández Agras and José Antonio Castro Sousa, plus global managing director Ramón Aragonés and managing director America Eduardo Bosch.

In Spain, the Gran Hotel Calderón offers 255 rooms, including 14 junior suites, plus 10 rooms for events and meetings totalling 700sq m and capacity for 350 people.

The historic Hotel Suecia, which once hosted Che Guevara and Ernest Hemingway, who lived there for long periods, has been completely renovated to offer 123 rooms, including 11 junior suites.

Spain has 22 of the 67 NH Collection hotels around the world. The company says another eight are to be added by 2018 across Mexico, Chile, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium and Spain.
