A major fleet and network expansion early next year was announced last week by Air Seychelles, with the introduction of a second Airbus A330, the launch of non-stop services to Düsseldorf and Durban, and the significant strengthening of its existing regional network.
The airline says it will establish an “air bridge” between the Seychelles and Germany in March with a two-a-week service to Düsseldorf and strengthen the European network further by upgrading its Paris service from three to four flights a week.
Effective from 30 March, the Seychelles flag carrier will also begin a twice-weekly service to South Africa’s port city of Durban, an important trade hub that is home to more than 3m people, complementing its existing five-a-week service to Johannesburg.
CEO Roy Kinnear said: “Air Seychelles has grown extensively and robustly in 2016 and is now ready to embark on the next exciting chapter of its evolution.
“These developments will further enhance air access to our archipelago and bring more business people and holidaymakers to our shores.”
Air Seychelles has a strategic equity partnership with the UAE national carrier Etihad Airways, which owns 40% of the airline.
