New look for top hotels

Two luxury hotels in the South East, the Grand in Brighton, and Duke’s London in Mayfair, are undertaking major refurbishments and remain open during the work.

The Grand Brighton’s multi-million pound façade restoration project, due to be completed in autumn 2017, is in four phases, with initial work on the East Wing now under way.

Enhancements will include a new lighting system to enrich the architectural design of the building, new windows and balconies for sea-facing rooms, full insulation and a re-render of the frontage.

General manager Andrew Mosley said: “Since we became an independent hotel in 2014, our owners have invested a significant amount and this project is a testament to our ongoing commitment to customers and to improving the guest experience.”

Work at the 5-star Dukes London begins next month on the meeting rooms, with changes to the restaurant and hotel bedrooms to follow in January. The improvements are expected to be completed by next summer.

Managing director Debrah Dhugga said: “We understand that maintaining standards is essential to remaining at the forefront of the luxury-hotel industry and this multi-million-pound renovation will be the biggest investment the hotel has seen in decades.”
