Madrid upgrade by Etihad

Etihad Airways is boosting its Abu Dhabi – Madrid route to a daily operation from 1 June with the introduction of three new services a week. Flights will continue to operate with the two-class A330-200 with 22 seats in Business Class and 240 in Economy.

Etihad says the extra flights will provide connections to key markets across the Middle East, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Asia and Australia. Popular connecting destinations via Abu Dhabi include Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Mumbai and Delhi.

From Madrid, passengers can connect on to Etihad codeshare partner Air Europa’s network to seven cities in Spain, including Barcelona, Bilbao, Gran Canaria, La Coruña, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife and Vigo.

Passengers can also connect with Air Europa beyond Madrid to destinations in South America and the Caribbean, including Asuncion, Cancun, Lima and Santo Domingo, while Etihad also offers links with codeshare partner Avianca between Madrid and the Colombian capital Bogota.

Etihad Aviation Group chief strategy and planning officer Kevin Knight said: “This expansion is in line with our strategy to offer more choice, greater frequency and additional travel options when conditions permit, and caters to strong demand between the two capitals.”
