Kimpton grows in Florida

Plans to expand its presence in Florida have been announced by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants with the opening of two new properties in 2018, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach in Miami and a luxury lifestyle boutique hotel in Tampa.

They join Kimpton Angler's Hotel, Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, Kimpton EPIC Hotel, Kimpton Vero Beach Hotel & Spa, Kimpton Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa, and Kimpton Hotel Zamora in the Florida region.

The Kimpton Hotel Palomar will be a 96-room new-build boutique property in the Sunset Harbour area of South Beach with a striking design by Miami architect and designer Kobi Karp, a rooftop pool and bar and a restaurant overlooking Collins Canal.

Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino said: “Miami continues to be one of the hottest tourist destinations in North America and has become an increasingly busy business destination for international travellers as well.”

The new boutique hotel In Tampa will offer 150 rooms and suites in the heart of Tampa's thriving Westshore and will incorporate a restaurant from Michelin-starred Tuscan chef Silvia Baracchi.

The property, built as a modern Italian piazza, will also have a rooftop bar and separate rooftop events area, and more than 4,000sq ft of indoor meeting and event space.
