The editor-in-chief has been reminded of the time when, in the build-up to London City Airport (LCY), he took an ITN film crew down to Plymouth for the day, the then-operational airport  (see Plymouth update in this issue) serving as the prototype for LCY.

They tried in the local pub to interview some anti-airport people with no success.

Then they found a little old lady walking her dog. She must be perfect. “Oh yes, I hate the airport and the noise,” she said!

Trouble was, her wandering took her right under the flight path. The dog liked the aeroplanes.
