Jet2.com, perhaps better known as Leeds Bradford Airport's leisure airline and package holiday specialist, is about to land in the south of England.
The first flights from Stansted Airport will take off on Thursday 30 March 2017 to Alicante, Faro, Majorca and Lanzarote, making the airport its ninth base.
A total of 83 flights will be served from 21 destinations.
Jet2.com says more than 250 new jobs will be created including flight and cabin crew, engineers and ground operations staff.
Announcing the programme at Stansted last week Alan Cross, head of trade at Jet2holidays, said: “Today is a real milestone for Jet2holidays as it marks the day we bring our family-friendly formula to travel-agency partners in the south of England.
"Our agency partners are integral to the ongoing growth and success of our business, accounting for a third of sales, so agents should expect the highest level of support from our dedicated team. We are already experiencing great feedback and a very positive response to our proposition, which is incredibly exciting.”
All the services will be flown by the airline’s brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the first of which was delivered last week at a special ceremony in Seattle.
