Heathrow trains add news service

One-minute news and business bulletins from the BBC World News service are now keeping passengers on the Heathrow Express up to date with events after being introduced last Wednesday as part of the on-board programming.

The bulletins are broadcast on the 15min journey between Paddington and the airport via screens throughout First and Express Class on the trains, which depart from Paddington on average four times an hour.

The programme changes at weekends to show the news channel’s travel and technology programmes, the Travel Show and Click.

Heathrow Express director Fraser Brown said: “Our passengers want a fast and efficient service to start and finish their trips and need to be well informed. The new bulletins make sure they are kept up to date with the latest news stories.”

BBC vice-president Zina Neophytou added: “BBC World News is the world’s most trusted international news channel, delivering impartial and in-depth analysis of the stories that matter most around the globe.

“Audiences value being able to access the channel wherever they are – at home, at work or on the move, from the beginning of their journeys to the end.”
