BA 747s new look

British Airways has completed a major makeover of 18 of its iconic Boeing 747 jumbo-jets, which the airline says gives the aircraft the look and feel of the newest members of its fleet.

Each 747 now features an updated interior and state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system, as well as extra seats for customers flying in Club World.

The last of the new-look aircraft entered service last Thursday and was deployed, like the first, on BA's flagship Heathrow – New York JFK route as the BA117.

BA customer experience director Troy Warfield said: “We have recently taken delivery of our 12th A380 super-jumbo but the iconic B747 remains an important part of our fleet and our customers love it.

“Our engineers have made these amazing aircraft look and feel like new, with enhanced comfort, cutting-edge technology and cool, clean design.”

The refit has involved new carpets, seat covers and mood lighting to match the new colour palette of BA’s new A380 and 787s.

Across all 18 aircraft, the 11-month programme has also involved 61 miles of wiring for the new Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system.

This also features larger, high-resolution screens with touch-and-swipe capability, giving the system the familiar feel of using a tablet.

Will you please ask why BA have now made carrying golf clubs part of the checked baggage allowance. Traveling Business Class to Barbados say if 2 cases are taken a £240 charge is made for a return with golf clubs.
