A first look at how Emirates and Oxford University are working together to develop a data-science lab to help to make the airline more efficient and customer-focused will be a feature of this year’s Aviation Festival at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, from 7-9 September.
The new facility is designed to bring together researchers from at least five departments within the university, including the Mathematical Institute, the Oxford Internet Institute and the departments of engineering science, computer science and statistics.
In co-operation with visiting Fellows from Emirates, the academics will work with the airline’s ever-growing datasets and use cutting-edge analysis to help it to understand its processes and customer preferences in greater detail.
This in turn will encourage the creation of new products and services to match the developing needs of passengers.
The Oxford-Emirates Data Science Lab is part of the On-Floor Innovation Theatre at the Aviation Festival. A show guide to view the free on-floor programme can be downloaded at http://goo.gl/siSwNr
