Spanish carrier Air Europa is upgrading its Business Class on long-haul flights by reconfiguring three Airbus A330s on the routes between Madrid and São Paulo and New York with 24 new fully-reclining flat-bed seats.
As well as increasing capacity, the upgrade includes design improvements including adjustable headrests and folding armrests, an individual entertainment system, three reading-light positions, and a power outlet for charging laptops, tablets and other devices.
The upgrade follows a new contract between Air Europa and the Air France/KLM engineering and maintenance division, AFI KLM E&M, to provide and certify Business Class sections on the A330-200.
Air Europa is overseeing the work in its hangars at Palma (Majorca), with the AFI KLM E&M team providing on-site support. The contract should be completed in October.
AFI KLM E&M senior commercial vice president Fabrice Defrance stated: "This contract consolidates a trust-based relationship between Air Europa and ourselves in the cabin modifications space.
“We are very pleased with the continuous nature of our commercial relationship with Air Europa – a client that is seeing strong growth and which is developing Business Class products on a par with the best international airlines."
