JFK boost for Etihad

Etihad Airways is increasing Airbus A380 service between New York JFK and Abu Dhabi International from 1 June next year in response to demand.

The airline says it will upgrade its second flight on the route to the superjumbo, which features the Residence, the only three-room suite available in commercial airline operation, and its award-winning First Apartment cabins.

The new service will join the airline’s existing daily A380 service, replacing the current daily Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Etihad Airways began serving the route between Abu Dhabi and JFK with the A380 last November, although it has operated the service with other aircraft for nearly 10 years.

“The response we have received from our guests on the route since we launched it has been phenomenal, and we are delighted to expand our product further,” said Etihad CEO Peter Baumgartner.

“Our commitment to our guests has always been to be the best airline in the world by totally reimagining the travel experience and delivering the highest levels of comfort, luxury and world-class hospitality at every point in their journey.”

Etihad opened a new premium lounge at JFK in December as part of further improving the ground experience for passengers.
