American’s Olympic links

With the Olympics looming, but also with an eye on passengers travelling on business to South America, American Airlines has launched a promotion for its 74 weekly flights from the US to Brazil that offer seamless connections from the UK.

The carrier has served Brazil for 26 years and offers daily flights to five destinations there – Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Manaus.

These connect with American’s flights from Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh via either New York JFK or Miami.

As an added incentive, passengers travelling with American throughout August can tune in to the action in Rio live from 35,000ft using inflight satellite TV capability, available on select aircraft.

Live television broadcasting is just one of the enhancements as part of American’s US$3bn investment in planned improvements, to provide passengers with what it calls a “superior travel experience”.

The investment also includes fully lie-flat seats; international wi-fi; more in-flight entertainment options and power outlets, and a new, modern design for the airline’s Admirals Club lounges worldwide, including Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
