Veterans' walk for charity

Airline sales veterans John Hepworth (Scot Airways, Aurigny, SkyWork Airlines) and Brian Brett (Dan-Air, bmi, SkyWork) are setting off on a sponsored walk next Sunday (31 July) across Morecambe Bay to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

They are donning walking shoes for the charity to pledge support for 49-year-old Andrew Knowlman, a once-energetic and lively airline industry professional who was suddenly diagnosed with the disease 12 months ago and is now wheelchair-bound with speech difficulties.

Knowlman worked formerly with Amadeus out of Nice, Madrid, Brisbane and London as account manager, supporting a variety of airlines and travel management companies. He applauds the duo’s efforts.

Aviation runs deep in Knowlman’s family. His father Brian worked for ABC Timetable Guides and was an early editor of Travel Trade Gazette.

The intrepid walkers will be walking a distance of seven to eight miles across the bay in between falling and raising tides. Cedric Robinson, the official guide to the Duchy of Lancaster, will guide them across.

To sponsor the duo, contact: Alison Chambers at Emerald Media with your pledge.
