Dublin €2m check-in upgrade

Check-in for passengers of four of the airlines using Dublin Airport has been upgraded in a €2m programme with 62 new self-service kiosks (SSKs) between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

They are being used initially by Aer Lingus, Ryanair, CityJet and Flybe passengers, but airport officials say other carriers are interested in using the technology.

Terminal 1 has 15 self-service units in check-in area 13, used  by Ryanair, and three more kiosks in check-in area seven for common-use by other airlines, including CityJet and Flybe. Terminal Two has 44 new units in the Aer Lingus check-in area.

Airport managing director Vincent Harrison said: “This €2m investment streamlines and simplifies the baggage check-in process for passengers.

“It will reduce check-in queue times and also increase the overall capacity at check-in in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and is already having a significant impact.”

The project is one of a large number of investments the airport is making across the terminals, at the boarding gates and on the airfield to add capacity and to continue to improve the passenger experience, he added.
