AA Premium Economy debut

An additional level of service will be offered to American Airlines passengers when the carrier's inaugural service with Premium Economy seating takes off on its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The 787-9 will make its debut international flight between Dallas Forth Worth and Madrid on 4 November, followed closely by service between DFW and São Paulo–Guarulhos.

The 787-9 features 30 fully lie-flat, all-aisle access Business Class seats arranged in a 1x2x1 configuration, 21 Premium Economy seats in 2x3x2, 27 Main Cabin Extra seats with up to 6in of additional leg room in 3x3x3, and 207 Main Cabin seats in 3x3x3.

Every seat offers a personal seatback entertainment system with touchscreen, power and USB ports, wi-fi for internet access and free live television channels, nearly 300 films, TV shows and games.

Business Class passengers will also be offered noise-cancelling headphones, while additional features include larger dimmable windows, improved cabin humidity and enhanced sound quality.

Premium Economy boasts leather seats with 38in pitch and extendable foot, leg and head rests, personal on-demand entertainment systems and larger touchscreen monitors.

American’s chief marketing officer, Andrew Nocella, said: “The 787-9 is going to be a fantastic addition to our wide-body fleet, with international wi-fi and an inflight experience second to none.”
