Taiwan’s Eva Air is joining carriers widening the distinction between cabins with improvements to its Royal Laurel Business Class service while announcing plans for a 10-across Economy Class configuration on its new B777-300ER.
Like most modern airlines, Eva usually offers nine seats to a row in Economy but the new arrival will feature an extra 20 seats in the new lay-out. Business Class will have 39 seats and Premium Economy 56, as before.
Eva, a member of Star Alliance, is reported to be planning to operate the new B777 three times a week on the Taipei – Seattle route from 30 October. The airline is also scheduled to begin operations in November between Taipei and Chicago.
The improvements for Royal Laurel Class passengers include electronic maps at check-in to guide them to lounges and departure gates, and fruit juice and chocolates offered to them on boarding.
There is also a sommelier-style wine service and, on the B777-300ER, a full turn-down service with crew converting the seat into a bed complete with cotton mattress.
