Avalon airshow gears up

Business travel and future airport development are expected to be the hot topics at the 2017 Australian International Airshow in February.

The gathering, from 28 February – 5 March and known as Avalon 2017 from its location at Avalon Airport outside Melbourne, Victoria, is made up of two concurrent events, an exhibition and trade exposition followed by a public airshow.

UK-based aviation consultant Robert Hardless said interest from Britain was likely to be higher this time, with the aviation industry seeking new markets “unfettered by their obligations to EU tariffs”.

He added: Avalon 2017 will be a perfect opportunity to showcase British goods and services to Australia, New Zealand and Asian markets.”

The exposition is regarded as the most significant event of its kind held in the southern hemisphere, with an industry showcase supported by a busy conference programme.

The last show in 2015 attracted 578 participating exhibitor companies and more than 40,000 trade visitors.

There were 38 attendant conferences and symposia with 2,000 speakers and delegates, plus 100-plus official delegations at senior military, government, industry and scientific level.
