Novotel flagship takes shape

AccorHotels’ new flagship Novotel in London’s Canary Wharf will open to guests by the end of this year, the company said last week.

The property will have 313 rooms, including 26 suites, and at 127m (417ft) is set to be one of the tallest buildings in the area. It will have nine individually-designed meeting rooms and breakout areas.

Novotel was launched in 1967 as a 4-star international mid-market brand with hotels located in the heart of major international cities, business districts and tourist destinations.

AccorHotels UK & Ireland managing director Thomas Dubaere said the Canary Wharf property would feature “cutting-edge” restaurant and bar concepts and would emphasise sustainability.

Novotel Canary Wharf is one of 33 Novotels in the UK and more than 400 worldwide, offering 83,340 rooms across 61 countries.

The brand already has a substantial presence in Docklands in the shape of the Novotel London ExCeL, which opened in August 2005 and is 150yd from the ExCeL Exhibition Centre and close to the O2 arena, Canary Wharf and London City Airport.
