Ibis Styles joins LHR hotels

Heathrow last week welcomed a new place to stay in the shape of the ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport Hotel.

Designed to be “quirky and contemporary”, the Bath Road property has 140 bedrooms, each with air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, free wi-fi and a specially-designed ibis Styles bed.

Other features include a 24hr reception and free continental breakfast from 06:00 for guests catching early flights. Cooked breakfasts are available at extra cost.

The restaurant serves food and drinks from 05:00 to midnight with a full à la carte menu in the evening, and the bar is open 24/7. There is limited car parking on site and there is a shuttle service to the airport.

Acknowledging its location, the hotel has various nods to aviation, including a reception area designed to look like an aircraft wing and public-area contemporary armchairs surrounded by hot air balloons.

Rooms feature artwork showing skydivers and astronauts while, imitating inflight practice, floor-level LED lighting guides guests to their rooms. Bedside cabinets are fashioned in the style of stewardess trolleys.
