Montreal-based Bombardier Business Aircraft is opening a wholly-owned service centre at London’s Biggin Hill Airport before the end of the year.
It will have a heavy-maintenance capability providing scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, modifications, avionics and AOG support for Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global series aircraft.
The company said enhancing its customer service and support in the London area had been a “top priority” and the planned new facility would provide greater flexibility for customers and access to its worldwide service centre network.
The Biggin Hill outlet will be based in a 3,065sq m (33,000sq ft) hangar with a large ramp area.
Biggin Hill business development director Robert Walters said Bombardier’s decision to locate at the airport reflected well on the long-term initiatives promoted by the airport, the London borough of Bromley and the Greater London Authority to establish a clear vision for the future of the airport as a dedicated business-aviation facility.
London mayor Sadiq Khan added: “Bombardier’s investment is a significant coup for London, not only creating jobs but cementing the city’s reputation as a leading destination for investment from across the world.”
