Montreal gets new hotel

Opening this summer, Montreal’s newest boutique hotel, William Gray, is adding 127 guestrooms and suites to the city’s bedstock, plus more than 10,000sq ft of event space.

The property, on Rue St-Vincent a few steps from Place Jacques-Cartier and the Old Port, will also have a 180-seat restaurant, rooftop terrace, luxury spa with outdoor pool, a boutique, a café, and views of Montreal’s most important landmarks.

The eight-storey structure features a new glass tower that sits over two historic buildings, the restored Maison Edward William Gray and the Maison Cherrier.

The hotel is breaking new ground with a series of link-ups with top city businesses, led by Café Olimpico, a European-inspired Montreal institution founded in 1970 and famed for its coffee, espresso drinks and pastries.

A second partnership is with the upmarket retail outlet OTH (Off the Hook), which features limited-edition men’s and women’s wear, accessories and footwear and will be on the first floor of the hotel, next to Olimpico.

Hotel William Gray is part of Le Groupe Antonopoulos, run by two brothers who over the past 30 years have built a portfolio of restaurants and boutique hotels in the historic centre of Montreal.
