Thomas Cook Airlines' LA debut

A distinct foodie air permeated Thomas Cook Airlines’ inaugural flight from Manchester to Los Angeles on Tuesday, with celebrity chef James Martin joining the occasion.

Martin, creator of the carrier’s inflight meals, was on board with his development chefs to do a taste test at 35,000ft to make sure the flavours of his meals can still be experienced at altitude.

Passengers on the flight were treated to a celebration of film and fame at check-in and the gate, with Hollywood look-alikes, classic film theme tunes and LA Cooler cocktails from the bar.

TC chief airlines officer Christopher Debus said: “Today marks a new foothold in Thomas Cook Airlines’ position as the biggest long-haul carrier from Manchester.

“We’ve invested £100m in upgraded interiors and have a stunning new long-haul fleet, matched by James Martin’s new menu.”

Manchester Airport commercial director Stephen Turner added: “This route makes Manchester the only UK airport outside London to offer a direct service to LA and offers our 23.5m annual passengers easy access to the US West Coast.

“It also showcases the role Manchester Airport plays in UK aviation, offering a wealth of long-haul destinations that no other UK airport outside London has.”   www.thomascookairlines.com   www.manchesterairport.co.uk
