Icelandair adds Montreal

A new connection between the UK and North America opens on 19 May when Icelandair begins a seasonal service to Montreal.

Flights will operate four times a week until 7 November on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with connections from six UK airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Icelandair, which started operating in 1937, has a long history of flights from Europe to North America.

Iceland’s advantage is its geographic position on the shortest flight path between the two destinations, which means it offers the quickest route to many of the airline’s existing 16 gateways. Montreal is its fifth in Canada.

CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason said: "Montreal fits well with the Icelandair route network and will strengthen our business with a refreshing and affordable way to travel for the business community between the destination and major European cities."

Icelandair’s gateways in addition to Montreal are Anchorage, Vancouver, Edmonton, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Minneapolis, Toronto, Orlando, Washington DC, New York JFK and Newark, Boston, Halifax and Chicago.

Flights between Iceland and Montreal take about 5hr and Iceland is just over 2hr flight time from the UK.  www.icelandair.co.uk
