BA heads for Billund

A new direct route from Heathrow to Billund, Denmark’s second-largest airport, is being launched by British Airways tomorrow (3 May).

The airline is planning 11 services a week from Terminal 5 using a combination of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft scheduled to provide connections mainly to flights to and from North American destinations.

As well as serving an important business destination, the new link will act as a gateway to Aarhus as the community gears up for its year as European Capital of Culture in 2017.

The flights bring the city to within a 1hr 40min journey from London, with Aarhus 2017 CEO Rebecca Matthews saying visitors will be able to enjoy a range of special events throughout the year of culture.

She added: “We’ve put together a top-quality programme that caters for every taste and it’s great news that British visitors will now have a new opportunity to fly here direct.”

Billund Airport also has daily flights to and from Stansted with Ryanair and to and from London City Airport with Sun-Air, a franchisee of British Airways.  www.visitbillund.dk   www.visitarhus.com
