Wizzair joins LGW line-up

Gatwick has joined Hungarian carrier Wizzair’s list of destinations with the airline launching its first flights from the airport on 18 June with a daily service to Bucharest.

It will be the only direct service from Gatwick to the capital of Romania and will complement Wizzair’s three daily flights between Luton and the city.

Gatwick is the ninth UK airport to join the Wizzair network after Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Doncaster-Sheffield, Glasgow, Liverpool and Luton.

The Gatwick Bucharest service means the carrier will offer a total of 76 routes to 14 countries from the UK.

Wizzair has also announced two new routes from Luton, including thrice-weekly flights to Olsztyn-Mazury airport in northern Poland. Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the service will launch on 18 June.

The second service is a four times-weekly schedule operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between Luton and Suceava in northern Romania. Flights begin on 19 August.

Wizzair recently launched new routes from Liverpool John Lennon airport to Budapest and Katowice and is set to start flights to Warsaw from Bristol and Aberdeen next month.   www.wizzair.com
