LHR – Vietnam goes daily

Vietnam Airlines (VN) is increasing its Heathrow – Vietnam Dreamliner service to daily from 23 June, with a new Thursday flight to Hanoi. There will now be three flights a week to Ho Chi Minh City and four to Hanoi.

The change comes six months after the Skyteam member boosted the Ho Chi Minh City route by adding a third weekly flight to that.

The UK services are all operated by the B787-9 – VN is the first south-east Asia carrier to serve Europe with the aircraft, which joined the fleet last summer. The airline is expected to operate a total of at least 15 when current orders and leases are fulfilled.

The other backbone of the airline’s international long-haul fleet is the A350-900, with VN reportedly planning to operate up to 24. It also has 58 A321-200s, nine A330-200s, eight B777-200ERs and 16 ATR72-500s for short-haul international and domestic services.

Vietnam Airlines switched its London operations from Gatwick to Heathrow airport earlier last year.   www.vietnamairlines.com
