Renaissance's NYC flagship

A new US flagship property for Renaissance Hotels has opened in the shape of the Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel at 35th St between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in Manhattan.

The building includes features from design studio Jeffrey Beers International (JBI)  using technology being showcased in a New York hotel for the first time.

Examples include ‘intelligent corridors’ that respond to human movement, digitally enhanced elevator banks, digital city guides that can be accessed with the point of a finger or tap of a toe and a four-storey LED digital clock on the roof.

The hotel has 348 guestrooms, including seven executive suites and an Empire suite, all with floor-to-ceiling windows.

The sixth floor holds a lobby bar, library lounge and Club Lounge for members of the Elite Marriott Rewards scheme and VIP guests.

Other features include 4,500 sq ft of meeting space which can be separated with glass walls into smaller conference rooms.

Food options include Rock and Reilly’s gourmet gastropub on the fifth floor, offering an 8,000 sq ft outdoor terrace  – a rarity in New York City with a retractable roof, private cabanas, comfortable seating and two fully-stocked bars.  www.newyorkrenaissance.com
