Alicante joins BA LCY line-up

British Airways is to launch a new service to Alicante from London City to cover the peak season this summer.

The new flights to the heart of Spain’s Costa Blanca will operate four times a week for 10 weeks from the end of June.

It will be the seventh Spanish route for BA at London City, where flights already operate to Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Ibiza and Menorca in addition to Granada, which is the only direct air link from the UK to the Andalucian airport.

In July and August, BA will offer more than 170,000 leisure seats to Europe from London City, 40,000 more than last summer, and will operate an extra 433 flights. On the busiest days there will be more than 20 leisure flights a day.

The introduction of the new service means there will be 33 destinations served in BA colours direct from the Docklands, where the airline is also launching new services to Berlin and Hamburg this summer.

A new 98-seat Embraer 190 jet will arrive at London City in June, the 20th Embraer aircraft to join the BA fleet there.  www.ba.com
