A new route between Gatwick and Cape Town is in the pipeline from British Airways, starting on 24 November. –
The three-a-week winter service will complement the carrier’s existing double-daily flights from Heathrow. BA says it will offer a three-class B777 service on the route, with World Traveller fares from £795, World Traveller Plus from £1,712, and Club World from £3,924.
Flights will depart on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 18:00 (all times local), arriving in Cape Town at 07:50 the following morning. The return leg will leave the South African city on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 19:10, arriving in the UK at 05:05 the following day.
BA will become the only carrier to offer direct non-stop services from both Gatwick and Heathrow to Cape Town.
It marks a busy season for the airline, which is also set to launch new flights from Gatwick to Costa Rica, New York JFK and Lima this year. BA says it will add a fourth three-class B777 to the Gatwick fleet from this winter, making a total of 12 at the airport. www.ba.com
