The latest new direct routes to European capitals to be launched by Romanian carrier Blue Air from Turin have taken off to London and Madrid, joining a network that already includes Rome and Bucharest. Blue Air will also connect Turin to Berlin from 2 May and Athens from 4 June.
The London service will operate into Luton on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with London and the other capitals forming part of 15 destinations the airline is establishing from its new Italian hub. In the pipeline are summer services to Alghero from 16 May, Ibiza and Menorca from 2 June and Palma de Mallorca from 4 June. Flights to Pescara are scheduled to begin in October.
Founded in December 2004 with 100% private capital, Blue Air operates more than 70 direct services in Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the UK, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden.
It operates a Boeing 737 fleet and has operational bases in Bucharest, Bacau, Iasi and Larnaca as well as Turin. It became an IATA member in January this year www.blueairweb.com
