Andrew Swaffield, CEO of the Monarch Group, is the guest speaker of the Aviation Club of the United Kingdom at the Institute of Directors on Thursday 28 April.
Members are advised to book early, especially if they want to bring guests – the last lunch with Bjorn Kjorn of Norwegian Air was a sell-out. There is a new website too.
The event also includes the AGM of the Club which takes place prior to the informal cocktail gathering which always precedes the lunch.
Swaffield joined Monarch in March 2014 from the Avios Group, where he was managing director for seven years from 2006. Under his leadership, Avios launched the new global single currency for International Airlines Group (IAG), which owns Avios Group, and the new Avios brand in 2011.
He has more than 25 years’ management experience in travel, aviation and airline loyalty with Thomas Cook and British Airways. At BA, he headed leisure sales in the UK and Ireland, as well as running the airline’s travel agency and tour operating subsidiaries.
At Monarch, he has changed the direction of the airline, focusing on short-haul operations and re-branding all the travel companies in the group as Monarch. www.aviationclub.org.uk
