BA ditches Heathrow route

British Airways is to drop its flights from Heathrow to Baku, saying it is now no longer commercially viable.  The last return service operates on 29 April.  Flybe is cuttiing routes too.

The airline currently operates six flights a week to the city, the capital of Azerbaijan a route it inherited following its takeover of bmi in 2012.

Azerbaijan Airlines offers a five times a week service out of T4 flying a three-class (Economy, Premium Economy, Business) Boeing 787.

Flybe is ditching its Inverness to Amsterdam service totally on 8 May and Belfast City to Newcastle at the end of June.  However as the major carrier at George Best Belfast City Airport Flybe still offers more than a dozen destinations with a choice of around 600 flights week.    www.ba.com   www.flybe.com
