Car shows

There are three big motoring extravaganzas taking place over the coming weeks but all are totally different.

The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit since 1998 for the types of racing cars and motorcycles that would have competed during the circuit's original period, 1948–1966. This year’s event covers 16–18 September and is the usual combination of racetrack activity, the latest and revival cars on show, plus of course high-class hospitality in rural Sussex.

Salon Privé is something else and is now firmly established in the splendid grounds of Blenheim Palace, this year 31 August–4 September, the last day is a family day.  Earlier in 2022 the organisers, Andrew & David Bagley, staged a highly successful Chelsea Hospital event, (see BTN’s May Motoring – On Tour) something of a preview. To gain the full flavour of Blenheim it is best to read BTN’s report from last year.  2022 promises to be an even more extravagant coming together of more than a century of motoring.

The British Motor Show takes place at Farnborough International 18–21 August with over 70,000 visitors expected.  We Brits seem to do motoring events very well and Farnborough follows Silverstone for the GP and the Goodwood Hill Climb and its associated experiences but this time for the whole family and not just petrol heads.  This is more than just a car show. It boasts countless moving vehicles, stunts, TV stars, careers info, passenger rides and even opportunities for supervised kids to drive themselves. An adult ticket is £18.50 for the day, and you can take the whole family (2 plus 2 that is) for £37 with those under four for free.
