Oman for the World Cup

Qatar Airways is not the only airline seeking business from the World Cup.

A less congested route is the Oman Air Match Day Shuttle, a 85min flight from Muscat to Haman International with its easy Metro links to the various stadiums.

Oman Air provides a daily service from Heathrow to Muscat, the three-class Boeing Dreamliner flight leaving the less congested T4 London at 21:50 in the evening and arriving 07:15 (local times).

For the duration of the competition the airline will operate 48 Match Day Shuttle flights from 21 November to 3 December many with the wide-bodied 787.

Passengers are advised to arrive in Doha at least four hours before the start of a match.  In addition, all travellers must register for a Hayya card (fan ID) prior to their flight, as this is required for travel on all Match Day Shuttle flights and for entry into Qatar.

Oman is promoting itself as less congested and a very different alternative to Qatar for those who are arriving early, leaving well after the competition ends, or just want break from the hurly burly of a very busy Doha.  It has one of the most diverse environments in the Middle East with many holiday attractions and is particularly well known for adventure and cultural tourism.

BTN last visited Oman in 2010 and we will be updating before the World Cup.  ON TOUR: Oman gives you a taste for the place.

The Muscat area and Oman in general is a wonderful place. Perfect base for anyone thinking of attending WC games in Qatar.
