Ryanair & Wizz for June

Both Ryanair and Wizz Air have quickly published their figures for June.

With the Irish airline the numbers are impressive with 15.9m passengers as against 5.3m in June 2021, a rise of 203% with an astonishing load factor of 95%. On a rolling annual basis the change is 283%, 134.5m passengers carried in the previous 12 months, the 2020/2021 number being just 31.5m.  The airline says it is seemingly free of delays in the Iberian peninsula which seem to have affected other carriers.

Ryanair operated over 88,500 flights in June.

Wizz Air carried 4,340,115 passengers in June, representing a 179% increase compared to June 2021, at a load factor of 86.1%.  The airline also announced it will be returning to a traditional systemic jet fuel policy. In a statement is says that given the sustained and ongoing volatility in commodity prices Wizz Air has decided to reinstate a hedging policy and will be aligning it to those of its peers.
