A “new and transparent” baggage policy aimed at easing boarding and guaranteeing all passengers can take one free carry-on bag into the aircraft cabin on all flights is being introduced by Wizz Air from 1 November.
The airline says more than 10,000 flights a year are affected by baggage-related delays, while figures also show the average length of stay at a destination in the past five years has been continuously declining.
“By now, every third Wizz Air traveller books trips for three days or less,” the airline added. “As a consequence of shorter trips, our passengers are packing light and smart.”
As of 1 November, every passenger will be entitled to take on board one free carry-on 40x30x20cm bag, while passengers who purchase the Wizz Priority option will be allowed to carry a 55x40x23cm trolley bag into the cabin as well.
Chief marketing officer Johan Eidhagen said: “Passengers want unbundled products and that is at the heart of Wizz Air’s Ultra-Low Cost Model. We want to offer our customers the lowest possible fares as well as a transparent view of ticket pricing.”
