easyBus questions?

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s easyBus has retrenched somewhat.

Conceived back in 2003, it started as a low-cost spin-off from the airline with a similar name offering cheap fares from central London to, initially, Luton Airport.

It is now essentially a marketing operation for airport coach travel from a number of operators to Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Manchester and Stansted airports in the UK and Geneva, Milan, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Pisa airports on the continent.

Last November, easyBus dropped the Stansted – Old Street route and stopped operating the Stansted – Victoria/Baker Street service.

The 19-seat mini-coaches on the Gatwick – Earl's Court/West Brompton, Waterloo, Victoria route are branded easyBus and operated by New Enterprise Coaches Ltd, which is also the same arrangement for Heathrow to Shepherds Bush and Waterloo.

The problem now confronting easyBus, as highlighted on BBC Radio 4 – 19 September, is that a booking taken out on-line with the easyBus website is seemingly a contract with easyBus and not actually the sub-contractor.
