Major developments have been announced by Delta Air Lines for its terminals at Los Angeles International and New York LaGuardia International.
In Los Angeles, Delta is relocating from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3, which it also plans to connect via a central complex, while at LaGuardia, the airline is partnering with the Port Authority to replace Terminals C and D.
The Los Angeles development marks the first steps in a US$1.9bn plan to upgrade and connect Terminals 2 and 3 over the next seven years, allowing Delta ultimately to build prime space for its Los Angeles operations alongside its airline partners.
The new space will house a private Delta One check-in lounge, new Delta Sky Clubs, fast check-in for Delta Shuttle services and an integrated in-line baggage system.
In New York, the new terminal will consist of 37 gates in four concourses connected by a centralised check-in lobby, security checkpoint and baggage claim.
There will also be a new Delta Sky Club, wider concourses, and larger gate rooms with more seating, plus direct access between the parking garage and terminal, improved roadways in drop-off and pick-up areas and kerbside check-in.
