Tianjin arrives at Gatwick

A new link to China was forged last week as Tianjin Airlines’ first flight from the UK took off from Gatwick for Chongqing and Tianjin.

The service is operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays with an Airbus A330-200 with 18 seats in Business Class and 242 in Economy. Flight time is 11hr 30min to Chongqing and 17hr to Tianjin.

The airline, a subsidiary of HNA Group, operates a fleet of more than 90 aircraft on a network of more than 100 destinations throughout China from eight hubs – Tianjin, Xi'an, Hohhot, Urumqi, Haikou, Sanya, Guiyang and Dalian.

The destinations include Shanghai, Dalian, Haikou, Shenyang, Hangzhou, Chifeng, Ningbo, Xiamen, Wenzhou, Ordos, Jinan, Wenzhou, Harbin, Taiyuan, Nanchang, Yantai, Haikou, Sanya, and Changchun.

Gatwick chief commercial officer Guy Stephenson said: “This new route connects the UK to some of China’s most important growth centres and will provide a welcome boost to the economy.

“The flights will encourage stronger links and cement relationships between the two countries, whether people are travelling on business, leisure or are students on exchange.”
