La Compagnie to get new aircraft?

Following the success of its routes from Luton and Paris Charles De Gaulle to Newark New York, French boutique airline La Compagnie is considering acquiring a new long-range Boeing 737-800 fitted with around 70 seats.

“It really makes sense and marks another stepping stone in our development,” said Aiden Walsh, VP sales and country manager UK. “In terms of cabin size, the cross-section is the same as our present Boeing 757s, and of course the New Generation twin is far more economical”.

Currently the airline flies daily from Paris and five times a week from Luton. The frequency from the north London airport goes up to six from the end of June and daily from September. A further 74-seat single class Boeing 757 is due shortly. Fares are very competitive.

Walsh says the carrier is reaching a niche market mainly from those who pay themselves or work for smaller companies. Passengers gain a lie-flat seat and Apple iPads connected to the aircraft's built-in entertainment centre. Timings give an evening arrival in New York and a late departure, ideal for the time-conscious business person.   www.lacompagnie.com
