Barcelona and Venice expansion for easyJet

Last week was a busy one for the UK's largest airline, easyJet, with new bases opening at Venice (number 27) and Barcelona (number 28).

At Venice the airline unveiled an aircraft with a special livery featuring one of Venice’s iconic gondolas that will help to promote the city across the 32 countries easyJet flies to.

To celebrate the new base, easyJet also joined the popular and spectacular Venice Carnival celebrations orange on Sunday 31 January where the traditional ‘flight of the angel’ culminated on an easyJet runway on San Marco Square.

Four Airbus A319s will be based at Marco Polo Airport offering an average of 50 daily flights to 25 destinations.

At Barcelona, an original international destination for easyJet 20 years ago, three Airbus A320s will be based.

easyJet operates 16 routes from Barcelona including two new ones, to Naples starting on 27 March and Bordeaux beginning 15 April.   www.easyjet.com
