Avianca Brazil joins Star Alliance

The Chief Executive Board of Star Alliance has endorsed the inclusion of Avianca Brazil into its network.  Avianca Columbia is already a member. 

The official introduction will be in São Paulo 22 July where the airline is planning “a special Brazilian party” according to Chief Executive José Efromovich, who made himself very available to the media at the Star Alliance CEB in Warsaw.  (See elsewhere in this issue).  Avianca Brazil will add 15 new destinations in Latin America’s largest economy and most important aviation market.

Also at the gathering was Fabio Villegas Ramirez, CEO of sister company Avianca Columbia.  He said that the airline's new four times weekly route from the capital Bogota to Heathrow was going very well and that the airline plans to go to daily just 12 months after its introduction, an 11hrs 30mins non-stop flight with a two-class Airbus A330.    www.avianca.com
