Air traffic chaos

Patrick McLoughlin, Transport Secretary, will be questioned when he appears before the House of Commons Transport Select Committee later today (15 December) following Friday’s air traffic chaos, which he himself described as "unacceptable".

Richard Deakin, Chief Executive of NATS, said that a computer glitch that led to disruption across UK airports has been "rectified".

On Friday British Airways had 121 flights cancelled and 432 delayed according to Flight Tracker.  For Ryanair it was 86 and 132, whilst easyJet did very well with only 17 and 118.

By Saturday things were much better, Heathrow Airport saying that 38 flights due to arrive or take off before 09:30 GMT had been cancelled but the subsequent schedule was "back to normal".  https://uk.flightaware.com
