Economy dining - Qantas style

Using its impressive cabin staff training operation in West London Qantas unveiled a new Economy international inflight dining offering to the media last week.

With separate daily A380 services to both Melbourne and Sydney, via Dubai, the airline employs nearly 500 cabin and flight deck crew in the UK.

The product rolls out across the network from 25 November.

The new Economy meals are top quality and a breakthrough in the way they are served, plus offering 50% larger servings and a faster service.  A new cabin cart and simple serving dish has been designed in order to make the whole operation quicker and easier for the staff and nicer for the passenger.

There is a choice of three main dishes plus a vegetarian offering, and a wider selection can now be booked ahead using the airline’s ‘Select on Q’ dining service.

Speaking at the Hammersmith Road gathering Regional General Manager Eric Jelinek said: “We have worked closely with Australia’s leading producers and suppliers to deliver what we believe to be the best inflight economy dining experience offered by any international carrier.”  As a comparison on the same route and same cabin BA only offers a choice of two main courses and you cannot book your meal ahead. www.qantas.com
