World’s shortest international flight

Royal Air Maroc and H.M. Government of Gibraltar have announced launch services between the northern city of Tangier and Gibraltar on 29 March 2015.

This new service will provide the first scheduled flights since the 1990s between both cities whose air links historically date back to the 1930s.

Flights will be operated by Royal Air Maroc's fleet of 70-seat ATR72 turboprop aircraft and offer both an Economy and Business product, initially twice weekly on Thursday and Sunday.

The new service will further facilitate two-centre holidays between Gibraltar and Morocco.  The service is conveniently timed so that passengers can connect from Casablanca with one stop at Tangier, opening up Gibraltar to the largest city in Morocco, and for connections from Casablanca.

It will also be one of the world's shortest intercontinental flights, linking the continents of Europe and Africa in just 30 minutes.

In recent weeks Bristol has joined Birmingham, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Manchester with Gibraltar services. (See BTN 10 November).  Travel agents are expected to package tours now including both Gibraltar and Morocco using the short flight.   www.gibraltar.gov.uk   www.royalairmaroc.com
