Expansion at Air Europa

Spanish carrier Air Europa is forging ahead with expansion plans, ordering more Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to replace its current Airbus A330s and expand the long-haul fleet, along with opening new routes. The carrier has two B787-8s in service with six on order and another 14 B787-9s on order.

Network growth includes new services to BogoAta (Colombia) and Guayaquil (Ecuador), each with five flights a week from 16 December, and Cordoba (Argentina) with four flights a week from 18 December.

Dreamliner service will be introduced to Santo Domingo from next Thursday (20 October), New York from 18 December and Buenos Aires from 10 January.

Air Europa last month also increased weekly frequencies to both Miami and New York to daily flights for the winter. Miami is already served by the Dreamliner, with New York to be upgraded from the end of the year. Business Class on both routes was recently re-equipped with flatbed seats.

Air Europa says it carried nearly 28,000 passengers on 133 flights on the Miami route in the first quarter of 2016. The airline has codeshare agreements with Delta Air Lines on the two US routes.
