Brussels greets Radisson Red

The world’s first Radisson Red property, described by operating company Rezidor as a new hotel philosophy and lifestyle brand, has opened in Brussels.

The brand, said to be “inspired by art, music and fashion”, currently has 14 additional high-tech hotels under development worldwide.

The Brussels property does not have a front desk. Staff – known as Red Creatives and all recruited through social media use tablets to greet guests. A Red app provides keyless entry using a guest’s smartphone and acts as a virtual concierge for check-in and check-out.

The app also monitors a guest’s bar bill, food and drink and gives details of what’s happening in Brussels.

The hotel is in the heart of Brussels and within walking distance of the European parliament. Its 149 studios feature picture windows, 55in TVs and high-tech lighting and bathroom amenities.

Rezidor Group president and CEO Wolfgang Neumann said: “The Red brand boasts a forward-thinking design and offers a new guest experience fuelled by personal interaction and personal choice.

“It is a recognition of the increasingly-important role technology plays in facilitating the best of everyday life – at home or away.”   www.radissonred.com/brussels
